IPL Media Rights for 2024 Season

In the 2023-2027 IPL media rights auction, Star Sports secured domestic TV rights, and a Viacom18 (Jio Cinema) consortium won streaming rights totaling over US$6.2 billion. This made IPL the second-highest valued sports media property globally.

In case you remember, Viacom18 streamed the 2023 IPL for free on JioCinema in 12 languages. This contributed to the platform reporting 1.4 billion views over the opening weekend. The 2023 final also set a record for the most concurrent viewers in a live-streamed event. The count peaked at over 32 million viewers.

Before, Sony held the broadcasting rights from 2008-2017 for Rs 8,200 crore, and then Star secured the IPL 2023 rights from 2017-2022 for 16,347.50 crores. In the upcoming IPL 2024, Tata will continue as the title sponsor, and Star will serve as the broadcast channel, with Viacom18 as the official digital broadcast partner.
